FAQ
4G-LTE
1. What is 4G- LTE?
4. What do I need to start using Indosat Ooredoo 4G-LTE?
- 4G is the fourth generation of mobile telecommunications technology, succeeding third gen (3G) and preceding fifth gen (5G).
- Uses Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing (OFDM) which is a technique for squeezing more data onto the same amount of radio frequency. Also reduces latency and interference.
- Data is split up and sent via small chunks of frequency in parallel, therefore increasing capacity of the network.
- Also uses Multiple-Input & Multiple-Output (MIMO), which is the use of multiple antenna arrays at both the transmitter and receiver to improve communications performance. This allows more data to be transferred without requiring additional bandwidth or drawing more power.
- There are 2 types of 4G technology which is LTE (FDD – Frequency Division Duplex) & Mobile WiMAX (TDD – Time Division Duplex)
- 'LTE' - Stands for Long Term Evolution
- 4G-LTE is superior to 4G-WiMAX because the coverage is significantly larger and the device ecosystem is much more superior meaning that there are about 7x more devices in the market
- ‘4G LTE’ – Offer’s users faster download & upload speeds (websites load quicker, able to stream videos and podcasts without buffering/ delays, download large email attachments or other content from the web faster, apps that require to download data, such as maps, will work more smoothly, especially when zooming in or out as this generally requires a lot of data and also pictures to be posted on to Facebook or Twitter would be much faster) and much lower latency as compared to 3G for devices like smartphones, tablets and laptops.
4G is the enhanced network technology from its previous generation called 3G. With this technology, customers are able to enjoy faster internet access with lower latency and a more stable connection with wider network capacity.
3. What are the advantages of 4G-LTE network?
The advantages of using 4G-LTE network :
*)actual speeds depend on the device being used, distance from the Base Station, location of user -outdoor vs indoor, illegal transmitters causing interference, frequency availability and other factors
- Get a device that supports 4G-LTE network (See Table below-Devices Supported)
- Get an Indosat Ooredoo 4G-USIM which supports 4G-LTE service.
- Subscribe to ANY Indosat Ooredoo SuperInternet Plan (Data Plan – Daily, Weekly, Monthly or Quarterly)

7. Is it necessary to replace the settings to access 4G-LTE?
Please check your Settings ->Mobile Networks-> Network Mode->GSM/WCDMA/LTE Auto is selected.
There is no need for any additional setting besides this. When you are in a 4G-LTE area you will see the “4G” or “LTE” or “4G-LTE” icon on the screen.
