HOW To reset a locked cisco router

To reset a locked cisco router:

1- install a serial cable,open your windows hyperteminal or just download putty (easier) and Connect to your router console.

2- reload the router by just issuing "reload" command

3- once your router starts the reboot process hit (ctrl + Break) on your keyboard  to break into ROMmon (ROM Monitor)

4- rommon 1>

5- rommon 1> confreg 0x2142

6- reset

your router will reboot and let you in without any password.

***To restore back the configure register to default just do the following:

1- Router# en

2- Router# Conf t

3- and after this change back the config reg to its default value

Router (config)# config-register 0x2102

4- Ctrl + Z

5- copy run start (to save you black config)

FYI...

***To delete a router configuration:

1- Router# write erase

2-Router# reload
